I read a post at the Gay Christians Movement Watch. The post was about a comment to a post that referred to the murdered “gay Christian “ as a saint.
This has prompted me to write this post. I have also been doing a bible study on Just the Word–Please, and presently I am reviewing Leviticus and this is what thus saith the Lord in regards to sodomy:
Leviticus 18: 22-23 Leviticus 18:26-30
Disclaimer: Please understand that I am not advocating death, only revealing what the Lord has said in regard to this sin.
The story of Sodom and Gomorrah detailed in Genesis, was chronicled as an example to us.
Lot lived in Sodom, however the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah had come up before the Lord, Genesis 18:20-21. When the Angels of the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, they destroyed everyone and everything. Lot tried to tell his sons-in-law and to them, he seemed to be joking, 19:14.
Every man, woman, child, and animal were destroyed except Lot, his wife, and two of their daughters, :15-16, and as they were escaping, Lot’s wife disobeyed the command and looked back and became a pillar of sale, :26. The angels would have destroyed Zoar, also, were it not for Lot asking to go there :21.
In verse :30, we see that Lot was afraid to live in Zoar. I wonder why, could it have been because the same sin was propagating there also? The example that I see is this: The sin of sodomy left unchecked will grow into a “raging bull”, :4-5, 9-11. Notice even after being struck with blindness, “they wearied themselves to find the door”.
In verses :2-3 we find that Lot (and everyone else in town) knew that the Sodomites came out at night; knew that they were always eager for new, strange flesh, :5. It is evident that no one spoke out against their practices, look at what happened when Lot spoke out, :7, :9.
Because of the complacent; look the other way; live and let live; attitude of the people of those lands they were eliminated by the wrath of God.
Another example set forth in scripture is the story of the priest and his concubine,
Judges 19, Long story short, he decided to lodge for the night in a city of his people, :11-14. He turns in to Gibeah, where the people of the tribe of Benjamin resided. No one invited him into their home, :15.
As he sits on the street and old man invites him to his home, :20-21. Then here comes the “raging bull”, :22. The man tries to reason with the men, :23, and offers a substitution, :25. They abused the concubine all night and she dies on the doorstep.
Judges 20 , The priest cut her body into twelve pieces and sends her abused body parts to the twelve tribes of Israel.
All of the tribes were outraged, except for the tribe of Benjamin who said they would not surrender the men of Gebeah, :13-17.
The children of Israel inquired of the Lord, :18-21; they asked a second time, :23-25; the third time they came before the Lord and offered sacrifices and when they inquired of the Lord this time the Lord said He would deliver the Benjamites into their hand, :26-47.
In the end only 600 men were left of the whole tribe of Benjamin. The point being, the compromise to the sin in their midst led to the almost total annihilation of the tribe of Benjamin. Because of the sin of sodomy, 65,030 men lost their lives, plus the women, seniors, lame, blind, children and animals.
Christians, do you see the correlations here? The examples are there in the Word of God, we need to heed the message.
